Beethoven Piano Sonatas Part 2 spans the magnificent “middle period” Beethoven piano sonatas—including the Waldstein, Appassionata, and The Farewell (Das Lebenwohl). What’s exciting about these sessions? Hearing how Beethoven’s imagination continually invents novel ways to develop the same simple musical ideas in each sonata, all in search for deeper emotional expression. You’ll go in thinking you already know this music pretty well, then start to hear Beethoven working on a higher order than you realized. In other words, this series will greatly elevate your listening skills. No previous experience necessary.
